FAQs
Our goal is to provide the best customer service and answer all your questions in a timely manner.
1. Do I need an international driving licence?
Loyal Car Rental suggests that you supplement your valid driving licence from any foreign country with the supplementary/supplementary International Drivers Permit (IDP) document.
The International Drivers Permit serves as an officially recognized translation of your local license in more than 150 members of the United Nations, however it must always be accompanied by your valid local license. A passport-type booklet is issued to certify that the driver holds a valid driver’s license from their place of permanent residence.
For travellers coming from the USA, Canada, Australia, South Africa etc., a driving licence issued in these countries is accepted by Loyal Car Rental, but is not accepted in itself by the Greek Police and therefore must be accompanied by a valid international driving licence. You can apply for such a licence at one of the many American Automobile Federation agencies. The cost is US$10 and the process takes just 10 minutes.
Similarly, if you hold a Greek driver’s license and plan to travel abroad, please note that many countries outside Greece require you to hold an International Driving Permit (IDP). Learn more at www.elpa.gr.
2. What are the obligations towards Loyal Car Rental upon pick up of the vehicle?
When you pick up the car you will need:
- Show a valid driving license.
- Present a valid driver’s license.
- Leave a copy of your credit card (Master Card & Visa).
3. What should I do if I am involved in an accident?
In the event of an accident, if the collision involves personal injury, you should report the accident to the local police in the area where the accident occurred (the police will probably visit the scene of the accident to investigate the reports).
The driver must complete and file any accident reports required by local or state authorities.
In addition, the driver is required to complete a Loyal Car Rental accident report for insurance purposes.
This report is done for the safety of both parties and is especially important if there is a disclaimer of liability. Please note that the statements you make may become a permanent part of the accident report. It is important to be honest and accurate as your statements may be used in legal claims.
4. What should I do if the car breaks down?
In case of damage to the rental vehicle, contact Loyal Car Rental at +30 22420 51245 or call the roadside assistance for immediate service.
You need to know where you are so you can tell roadside assistance where to find you.
